CVS Trip 3/6: Spent $24.27, Saved $80.05!!

Okay, so I spent a whopping $24 dollar this week at CVS, but I had to get a couple of out of the ordinary things including make-up and self-tanning lotion. (We will be going to the beach in a couple weeks and I am white as a ghost and I don't do tanning beds.) I had thought about getting a spray-on tan at the salon, which is $30, but  I decided against it. I figured I would buy the lotion and do it myself and in 2 weeks, I'll be dark enough to show off my legs at the beach...LOL! So, Here's is how I broke my trip up. I did 4 transactions. I started with $4 ECB's from last week.

Abbreviations:
SS - Smart Source, RP - Red Plum, P&G - Proctor & Gamble,
GM - General Mills, ECB's - Extra Care Bucks, WYB - When You Buy, NLA - No Longer Available, OOP- Out Of Pocket

Things to remember when shopping CVS:
  • You have to have an Extra Care card to get the deals. If you don't have a card, GET ONE the next time you go to CVS--just tell the cashier you need an Extra Care Card, you can start using it that very day!
  • ALWAYS scan your card at the Red Scanner when you walk in the door! I always scan mine twice to receive the most coupons, then if I try again, it usually says "That's all the coupons we have for you today!"
  • Always carry your Green bag, if you don't have one, purchase one and a green bag tag--It earns you $1 ECB every 4th visit (only one scan per day). You use this bag for your purchases instead of plastic bags and the cashier will scan the tag when she/he is checking you out and to reward you for being GREEN, you get $1 ECB on every 4th scan.
  • ECB's print out on the bottom of your receipt and you use them like cash. They are like CVS Money

  1. Quite a variety and at great savings. It does seem odd to pay much at CVS, and yet we are still saving so much, but somehow it still seems wrong. :-). Thanks for linking up your CVS shopping trip at Simply CVS.
