My not so perfect Publix Trip 12/5 - Spent $67.11, Saved $95.87 - 59% Savings!

Wondering how I get my Percentage Saved? I use the following equation:

Total Savings / (Total Spent + Total Savings) = % Saved

The reason I titled this post as my "not so perfect" Publix trip is because it didn't go quite like I had planned it. I made a purchase of (4) Maragret Holmes veggies (reg. price: $1.19) and had planned on using (2) $.75/2 MQ and (2) $1/2 STORE Q on  4 products. I hadn't been completely thorough in looking over my coupons for the Margaret Holmes canned veggies. I assumed The Q in the "All the Trimmings"  booklet was a PUBLIX store coupon, but it was indeed a MQ. So, needless to say, the cashier kindly pointed out to me that I had only purchased 4 of the cans. I apologized and was reminded that when I am preparing my list, I need to be more thorough in looking over the wording on my coupons to make sure that I AM using them correctly. The reason I am sharing this is because I have been doing this couponing thing at Publix for over 2 yrs. now, and I still mess up every now and again. No body is perfect. If you are just starting out and think that it is going to go easy peasy every time, I hate to inform you that you are setting yourself up for a big let down. Don't expect everything to be perfect, especially in the beginning when you are still learning. Take it one day at a time. If you stress yourself out about it, it's likely you won't stick to it.

Another thing that didn't go as planned is that I bought 2 eat smart bagged veggies that were priced at 3/$5 making them $1.67 ea. Well, I grabbed a salad kit bag, which i thought was included in the sale. Come to find out, it's on sale, but for 2/$5 making them $2.50 ea. I didn't retract the item though, because it still wasn't a BAD deal to me. Have to keep those veggies in the fridge! ;-) The last thing that I flubbed up on was the nestle morsels. I grabbed one of the 12 oz. bogo ($1.50 ea.) bags and one of the 6 oz. (reg. price: $1.92) bags. I should not have been in such a hurry! Once again, I did not retract the purchase, but I may return the item and swap it out for the other one, only because I was only purchasing the item because it was a great deal with my coupons. if it had been an item that I was in dire need of, I would probably just keep it and take the small loss.

I also grabbed a few things that were not on my list. I grabbed Mayfield ice cream ($3) for the hubs, and Luigi's frozen ice, no sugar added, for me. I am on a journey to lose 15 lbs. by Christmas and I felt this would help me when I have a sweet tooth!

We will be sharing the butter, a box of cereal, and a package of fruit cups from this trip! I'm sticking to my giving goal! Remember those who are less fortunate and don't forget to give of the abundance that the good Lord has blessed you with!

If you don't have a home church, get your family up and choose to visit one in your community this Sunday. I know what it's like not have a church family, I have been there, and we visited several churches for a whole year until we found our home church! Through prayer and patience, the Lord led us to the perfect place for us to Worship HIM!

May you all have a blessed week and a joyful Christmas Season with your families! Happy Shopping! =)
